🪄 The underside of a silicone mold | Regarding the polishing of the master model

Thank you for always visiting our page! 🌸
I'm LALA, the owner of a Jesmonite-exclusive silicone mold shop. 😊

This time, I'd like to give you a little peek behind the scenes of how our silicone molds are made.
It's all about polishing the original models that support our molds! 🪄

✨ The most time is spent on what's unseen.

Actually, this "polishing" process is the most time-consuming part of making silicone molds.

Creating the design with 3D data and printing the original model with a 3D printer happens relatively quickly, but that's when the real work begins.

We manually polish away the layer lines, which are inevitable steps created when printing with a 3D printer!

Depending on the shape, it can take hours to polish the surface until it's perfectly smooth 💦

Especially for designs with curves, even a slight step remaining will be very noticeable when cast in Jesmonite.

Therefore, we continue to polish, changing angles and feeling with our hands until we are satisfied.

We make them this smooth 🌸

And this polishing work is always done little by little after the kids are asleep while watching Netflix 📺✨

During the day, I work on making silicone molds, and during the quiet nighttime hours, I work on making the original models 🌙

🌿 Not just "cute," but also a "comfortable" shape.

Of course, the cuteness of a mold is important.
But what I'm particular about is also the "comfort when you hold it" 🤲✨

By not compromising even on a 1mm step and refining it,
the surface finishes smooth and moist when Jesmonite is poured.

By the time it reaches our customers, only the finished silicone mold is visible,
but before that, there are many hours of "rubbing, polishing, and gazing." 🌸

I would be delighted if you could feel even a little bit of these small, unseen efforts that accumulate. ☺️

📸 Next time...

In the next blog post, I'm planning to give a little introduction to the process of how a polished original model becomes a mold,
specifically the silicone pouring stage! 🙌

I hope you enjoy this peek behind the scenes of creation 🌿
Thank you for reading this far! ✨
